QUEEN BEAST To Release Debut In February
November 28, 2008Fayetteville, Arkansas's QUEEN BEAST (formerly PILE OF DEAD WOMEN) will release its self-titled debut on February 13, 2009. The album was produced and engineered by Sanford Parker (PELICAN, UNEARTHLY TRANCE, RWAKE, BURIED AT SEA) at Steve Albini's Electrical Audio and at Semaphore Studios in Chicago.
In a recent interview with FayettevilleFlyer.com, QUEEN BEAST guitarist Nate stated about the name change from PILE OF DEAD WOMEN, "It [was] a stupid name and we would have never gone with it had we known the band would actually become anything worthwhile. Second, we've had some member changes and wanted to start fresh once we established a good sturdy lineup. Also, PILE OF DEAD WOMEN has nothing to do with our style. It's a total grindcore band name."
Regarding the band's future plans, Nate stated, "Right now the main objective is to not have to work real jobs anymore. We want to be able to sustain ourselves through touring, recording, merch, and the like. So we have some specific magazines, websites, and labels that we're going to be sending copies of the album to once it's done. I think we’ll probably press up 1,000 copies. We'll sell them locally and put a PayPal link on our MySpace. We have John Moore (Enki3d.com) working on our album art and it looks great so far. Everything will be rolling before the end of the year for sure. When it comes down to it, we just want to be able to book shows nationally so we can get on the road and spread this shit around."
